Nile G. Fahmy | Michelle Fahmy
Nile G. Fahmy is a self-taught metalsmith. He is attracted to traditional smithing techniques which today have been all but abandoned due to their time consuming nature. He finds inspiration in works, "wrought in the manner of [a time] when art made precious even the basest of metals." [The Count of Monte Cristo, by Alexandre Dumas]
Nile's work focuses on forging, chasing & repousse, and the raising of seamless vessels.
Michelle Fahmy is a metalsmith who trained under her brother, Nile G. Fahmy. She enjoys crossing mediums and blending techniques in subtle ways.
She is inspired by the natural world and by the potential to emulate organic growth with successive hammer blows.
Michelle's work focuses on forging, fold forming, gilding, raising, and patinization.
